Today is the the day I dreaded... Indian Market. Susie's stated mission is to meet some of the artists whose works are in her collection. I know that we will likely leave the Santa Fe Plaza with more than just pictures of the artists. We did leave the Plaza with a few more pieces and we are still solvent.

The first time we came to Indian Market was 18 years ago. We arrived in Santa Fe and didn't know it existed and only found out about it when we checked in at the hotel. At that time the Indian Market was a bit smaller, and with few exceptions, it was dominated by Southwestern artists. What we saw today was a bigger show covering more streets. There were artists from tribes all over the U.S. I noticed a couple of Passamaquoddy basket weavers from Maine and I think they may have traveled the furthest.

After three and a half hours walking in the hot sun, Susie succeeded in her mission of meeting and having me photograph all the artists on her wish list and we went back to the hotel.
